Today in Baseball History (2001)

The Seattle Mariners win their 116th game to tie the major league record of wins in a season set by the 1906 Chicago Cubs and set the American league record.   They were led by the 2001 AL batting champion (.350 avg) and 2001 MVP Ichiro Suzuki and Jamie Moyer who had 20 wins which tied him for 2nd in the American League.
